This album is fantastic (even though I'm not a huge fan of the second track, 'Day and Night') - it's incredibly soulful and powerful. The release is really well done too, with beautiful presentation and a booklet that's both nice and thorough. I'm not a fan of the modern trend of having such wide album spines though - this is just a single record, yet it has a spine larger than most double albums I own! While I'm not really into the whole exclusive colored vinyl trend, the blue vinyl is actually a light blue with faint dark blue specks - the effect is really quite nice up close and, more importantly, the color fits perfectly with the style and design of the cover artwork. I could do without the cocktail recipes and such, to be honest.
Yet another fantastic Speakers Corner release. Vinyl is pin-drop silent. Sound is sharp and pristine. Only gripe, it's a tad on the bright side, but I'm accustomed to RVG's sound.
This pressing is super clean and quiet, with my record looking fantastic apart from a tiny scratch that I don't think affects the sound at all. The music is really well-recorded, with Nina's voice clear and front and center, making every word she sings easy to catch. The instruments are mostly on the left and right speakers and sound great too. The piano is a bit on the soft side, but that's my only gripe. Overall, this is awesome. Cartridge: AT150Sa
This is a total treasure for music lovers! I previously owned the Ryan Smith blue Vinyl Me Please pressing - this one absolutely outshines it. The dynamic range and lifelike soundstage here are perfection. Would definitely recommend it!
I decided to upgrade from the Music on Vinyl version of this amazing album. It's likely my favorite Nina Simone record, so it was worth getting an audiophile quality pressing. I bought the MOV version before I realized they press vinyl from digital masters. As someone with a physics degree, I see that as a clear case of unethical business practices, going from analog to digital and back to analog? I should've known better than to fall for that trick. Now, I'm fully immersed in the sound and depth, and Nina feels like she's right here in my listening space as this spins on my turntable. Kudos to Speakers Corner.
