Product description

Dive into the rich, soulful sounds of Stanley Turrentine's "Look Out!" a timeless collection of jazz masterpieces that showcase the saxophonist's incredible talent and versatility. Originally released in 1960, this 2007 remastered edition by Rudy Van Gelder brings new life to Turrentine's hard bop and soul jazz classics, offering a crisp, clear listening experience that highlights the warmth and depth of his music.

Throughout the album's 54 minutes, Turrentine's smooth, soulful tenor saxophone weaves through a captivating blend of original compositions and well-chosen covers. From the infectious groove of "Look Out" to the tender ballad "Yesterdays," each track is a testament to Turrentine's expressive playing and his ability to connect with listeners on a profound level.

The album opens with the title track, "Look Out," setting the stage for an engaging journey through the various facets of Turrentine's artistry. "Journey Into Melody" showcases his cool jazz side, while "Return Engagement" and "Minor Chant" highlight his bebop roots. The playful "Tiny Capers" and the exotic "Tin Tin Deo" demonstrate his knack for creating memorable, engaging melodies.

Fantastic LP and pressing! If you come across a clean copy, snatch it up. They only pressed this once in 1960. It was a couple of years before it was reissued, so they’re scarce and costly.

  • Jazz Images: Great Sound, Value

    5 out of 5 stars
    rovysholdboqFebruary 25, 2025United States🇺🇸

I've got a fair number of albums from this "Jazz Images" series, and I must say, the sound quality is fantastic—no pops or ticks at all, and they all sound incredible. The packaging is really nice too, especially for the price! I've also got quite a few Blue Note albums, and I've paid a lot more for those, but in some cases, the sound and pressing quality just aren't as good.

The audio quality here is impressively awesome, with every instrument sounding just right. The performance is outstanding, and Turentine’s sax truly comes to life.

Amazing audio! The saxophone comes through crystal clear and at a high volume. The channel distinction is excellent. Fantastic material.

When the original "Look Out!" album goes for hundreds of dollars, this is an easy choice. It sounds fantastic and only costs around ten bucks.
