This is such a fantastic remaster. It's not overbearing, not too squashed, and all that - they've done an amazing job here!
Purchased second-hand, missing the poster. Not an issue. The run-out grooves are a tad loud but for a lo-fi punk record like this, I reckon it enhances the appeal. Minor warp, but that's all, dead center. The matrix numbers hint it might've been pressed at Rainbo, but I ain't sure about that.
Here's how you can tell it's a mispress: it's cut like a 12" EP, with the grooves spaced that way. There's extra blank space (outgroove) between the last track and the center label. Plus, California Uber Alles sounds like it's been played on a pogo stick or something.
...out of all the awesome punk records or tracks i came across from 1977-82, this one's hands down the most impactful & revolutionary. it'll jolt you awake better than any cup of joe. frontman jello biafra is a one-of-a-kind character, also a well-known vinyl enthusiast...
Gave this old thing a whirl...Criticisms, considering the audiophile expectations for a punk rock album, are laughable/priceless. Back when this dropped, nobody cared about punk audio quality. It's raw, bright, and biting, and was never intended to be a Pink Floyd-level production. I reckon my NM copy sounds pretty darn good on my modest setup...Go ahead and hold out for Analogue Productions, MoFi, Chesky Records, etc...(Fluance RT-82 w/Acrylic Platter, ATN-XP cart/5 stylus. Nobsound T3 Phono Amp, Aiyima A07 Pro, Kicker KB6B, & 2x Polk PSW10 Subs...Simple Low Cost Setup)...Happy Listening
