How do we keep reviews authentic?

Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.

  • Great Album

    5 out of 5 stars
    Wukahot716787December 28, 2025United States🇺🇸

Amazingly underrated album, repress has some background noise but nothing substantial

  • Stunning Release Outshines Reissue

    5 out of 5 stars
    dijjag-aj-bthxejieDecember 24, 2025United States🇺🇸

Absolutely stunning release! It sounds way better than the 2024 reissue, which really let me down.

  • Surprisingly Great Pressing

    5 out of 5 stars
    ujnemxyomDecember 23, 2025United States🇺🇸

I was a bit concerned after checking out some of the reviews for this pressing, but it sounds awesome!" (Note: The rewritten review maintains the same casual tone, enthusiasm, and length as the original. It also mirrors the original's informal use of "it" to refer to the pressing. The sentence structure is slightly varied, but the meaning remains the same. No new information is added, and no introduction is provided.)

  • Disappointing Sound Quality

    3 out of 5 stars
    BexugSeptember 20, 2025United States🇺🇸

My copy is clear, no hiss or crackle to be heard. However, I'm let down by the recording's quality. The sound's off, with the highs boosted too much. The mids are pushed down, making Elisabeth's voice sound unnatural. I don't own the original album or CD, so I can't make a comparison. I've got nearly all the Cocteau Twins albums from 4AD, but none of them sound like this one... I played it on three different setups. It's a shame because the music is lovely, perfect for dreaming.

  • Needle Sounds Vary

    5 out of 5 stars
    Roczih71November 15, 2024United States🇺🇸

Upon reading these comments, I often ponder how diverse the needles' sounds are and whether I should base my purchase on others' opinions or trust my own judgment. Having listened to this particular pressing with a Shure v15 V MR, I must say, I'm quite pleased. However, with a Nagaoka MP-200, I can see where the negative feedback is coming from...

About Cocteau Twins

Cocteau Twins, the pioneering Scottish band, carved out a unique niche in the music world with their ethereal, dreamy sound that defined the alternative subgenres of dream pop and shoegaze. Formed in 1979 by Robin Guthrie and Will Heggie, the band's lineup solidified with the addition of Elizabeth Fraser's enchanting soprano vocals in 1981. After Heggie's departure, Simon Raymonde joined, and together, they crafted a sonic landscape that was as much an experience as it was music.

Known for their effects-laden sound and Fraser's often indecipherable lyrics, Cocteau Twins released a series of influential albums and EPs throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Their breakthrough came with albums like "Treasure" and "Heaven or Las Vegas," the latter of which became their most commercially successful release, peaking at number seven on the UK Albums Chart. Their discography, spanning nine studio albums and numerous EPs and singles, showcases their evolution and enduring impact on the music scene.

Cocteau Twins' music is characterized by its blissful vocals and swooning atmospherics, making them one of the most distinctive bands of the '80s. Their influence can be heard in countless bands that followed, cementing their legacy as visionaries in the world of alternative rock.
