Incredible. At first glance, I wondered if he might have packed this all into one album, maybe by focusing on the more instantly catchy tunes. But the tracks that don't click right away? They'll grow on you. From the prepared piano of Kladfvgbung Micshk, to the soft classical elegance of Strotha Tynhe - and the electronic drum brutality of Cock Ver10 and Ziggomatic V17... There's something here for both the electroacoustic enthusiast and the chemically-fueled hardcore maniac. That might be an issue for some listeners... but for those with a broader taste in music - totally essential stuff.
drukqs is just behind ambient works 2 in my list of fav aphex twin albums. the blend of lovely piano tunes, drill'n'bass beats and some wild experiments has a lot going on, so good headphones are a must as the sound is key here. it's a challenging listen, not for background vibes, but that's par for the course with most of his stuff. give it a few spins, first time might be too much for casual listeners, not the best starting point, that'd be syro.
drukqs is just behind ambient works 2 my top pick from daddy. the blend of gorgeous piano melodies, drill'n'bass beats and some wild experiments really delivers, so grab a solid pair of headphones 'cause the sound is key here. it's a challenging listen, not for casual background tunes, but hey, that's par for the course with most aphex twin albums. give it a few spins, the first go might blow your mind if you're not used to it, not the easiest starting point, that'd be syro.
Unfortunately, I'm the owner of this CD. I did some digging for new music and kept seeing Aphex Twin's name everywhere. I read up on his background and decided to give it a shot. Huge regret. I'm into experimental stuff, but wow, this was terrible. It felt like some music expert, after downing a six-pack of honey brown, just started smashing things together and called it a track. After all the hype about this guy, I was seriously disappointed by the CD. 1 out of 5... and that's being kind.
His most experimental album, and in my opinion, one of his finest. Perhaps it's just the meds talking, but I'm truly digging it. This is what more folks oughta be picking up, instead of that mass-produced dance music, with the same damn beat TSHH boom TSHH boom TSHH going on and on...
