  • Stereolab's Underrated Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    ehaifutdocNovember 16, 2025United States🇺🇸

Incredibly, this album is often ignored in the fantastic Stereolab collection. It's a lengthy, mesmerizing blend of electronics and jazz, and Pitchfork's 3.4 rating upon release didn't exactly encourage those already hesitant about the album's concept. Yet, I believe this is one of Stereolab's finest works, and it astonishes me how Dots and Loops is praised while this gem is dismissed. Every aspect of this album resonates with me, feeling like a natural evolution of their sound. Calling it “overindulgent” is unfair to a band exploring the limits of their music. Completely captivating, this record is a brilliant experiment for Stereolab, and this original pressing is absolutely perfect.

  • Stereolab's Fantastic Album

The main album is absolutely fantastic, and it comes with such a wealth of fascinating extra content that it could be a central piece in any Stereolab collection.

  • Stereolab's Clever Spoof

    5 out of 5 stars
    tehaidtasas25May 3, 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Word on the street is that this isn't truly a Stereolab album. It seems some incredibly witty folks with spare studio time cooked up the definitive Stereolab spoof, right down to the Earth shoe brown and burnt orange album art... After giving it a listen and being fans of détournement, Stereolab figured it'd be a fantastic Situationist prank to put it out via their major label, thereby dodging the production expenses. Though it's never been confirmed, ex-members of the Alan Parsons Project and Pablo Cruise might've been involved. Ideal art piece to tuck between your vinyl copy of Mort Garson's "Mother Earth's Plantasia" and Keith Sanborn's rendition of "The Society of the Spectacle" on VCR tape. RATING: Six thumbs way up! You gotta have this on the original UK vinyl for the ultimate aesthetic vibe.

  • Stereolab's Mesmerizing Masterpiece

    5 out of 5 stars
    ojaowikgipNovember 27, 2024United Kingdom🇬🇧

Amazing audio, captivating and out of this world. I just can’t wrap my head around why this album was criticized when it came out, it’s definitely one of Stereolab’s finest, and this version brings it to life. The entire 17 minutes of Blue Milk is mesmerizing and nothing like you’ve heard before. This is an ideal set for anyone wanting to grasp the true greatness of Cobra and Phases Group.

  • Re-Release Audio Excellence

    5 out of 5 stars
    WidZer59September 29, 2024United States🇺🇸

This re-release is an eye-opener! The audio quality is crisp, spacious, and full of depth. 'Blue Milk', aside from being the longer version, features a distinctly different mix, truly showcasing Jim O Rourke's outstanding production skills. In my opinion, this sounds even more impressive than Emperor Tomato Ketchup in the same collection. It's fantastic to see this album -unfairly criticized by reviewers upon its launch- receive the top-notch treatment it deserves.

About Stereolab

Stereolab, the iconic Anglo-French avant-pop band, has been captivating audiences since their formation in London in 1990. Led by the dynamic duo of Tim Gane and Lætitia Sadier, Stereolab's sound is a mesmerizing blend of krautrock and 1960s French pop, characterized by repetitive motorik beats, vintage electronic keyboards, and Sadier's enchanting vocals in both English and French. Their lyrics delve into political and philosophical themes, drawing inspiration from Surrealist and Situationist art movements. On stage, Stereolab transforms their sound into a more feedback-driven and guitar-oriented experience. Over the years, they have expanded their musical palette to include influences from funk, jazz, and Brazilian music, making each performance a unique and immersive journey. With a rich discography and a dedicated following, Stereolab continues to push the boundaries of avant-pop, offering a live experience that is as intellectually stimulating as it is sonically engaging.
