Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
The record I received was quite a sight, a bit of a mess visually, but it plays just fine. However, it's got a ton of high-end, way too much treble. To make it sound right, I had to turn the treble down to -4 and really boost the bass and sub. Plus, I'm using a Shibata stylus, which adds even more bass. I've never had to tweak my EQ this much before, it's pretty extreme. I'm not sure the remaster was a great success, but the pressing itself is good.
This is a fantastic clean pressing. The audio dynamics and quality are really impressive. The separation and sound stage are great. I'm happy with the attention to detail and quality control in this re-issue. There's no surface noise at all. It's a shame the vinyl re-issue doesn't include the four bonus tracks that were previously unreleased. I guess those four bonus tracks are probably in the digital download, but I didn't verify that.
This is your standard 80's hard rock (not heavy metal) record; there are a few standout tracks, but the rest are just okay. The production is solid &, flaws and all, it's an 80's must-have.
Back then, we'd call it heavy metal from Germany, not hard rock like today. Before the German thrash metal records hit over here. Accept was all about metal, no ballads until Russian Roulette. One of their top 80s albums, right up there with Animal Magnetism. If they'd stopped here, I might've never known them. I ended up loving their 70s work, probably even more metal. Do yourself a favor, start with this album and go back through their catalogue.
The highs are slightly on the bright side but this is still a fantastic pressing. I'm consistently amazed by how incredible Japanese vinyl from over 40 years ago can sound.
