Product description

Dive into the raw, unfiltered origins of German rock titans Scorpions with their debut album, "Lonesome Crow," released on February 9, 1972. This hard rock gem, recorded in just six or seven days under the production of Conny Plank, captures the band's early, psychedelic influences and the raw talent of a young Michael Schenker on lead guitar. "Lonesome Crow" is not just a collection of songs; it's a snapshot of a band finding their footing, blending hard rock with glam and early metal elements that would later evolve into their signature sound.

The album's seven tracks, including standout songs like "I'm Goin' Mad" and "In Search of the Peace of Mind," showcase the band's early experimentation and energy. Originally released as the soundtrack to the German anti-drug movie "Das Kalte Paradies," "Lonesome Crow" offers a unique blend of 70s German rock that sets the stage for Scorpions' future success. With its gritty production and powerful performances, this debut album is a testament to the band's enduring legacy and a must-listen for any rock enthusiast.

This is a 2023 Reissue released as a LP.

  • Early Scorpions Jazz Delight

Absolutely adore this early Scorpions stuff. It's quite jazzy in parts... and this one's out on that electronic German label, Brain...

  • Japanese Album Artwork Stunning

Incredible album! This Japanese version is stunning! The awesome artwork captures the band perfectly from that era and the OBI is a must-have!

Awesome Album. 3 Stars? Seriously. Awesome Psych Album. Loads of Jokers in this one!

  • Laminated vs Unlaminated Editions

    5 out of 5 stars
    hukren-wudocJune 26, 2025United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

I own two copies of this edition, so I can confirm it's real. The once glossy lamination has mostly peeled away, leaving behind some shiny spots, but there's a second, smoother, matte layer underneath, still counting as lamination. I also have the (more frequent) unlaminated version, and the difference between the two covers is noticeable, although the discs inside seem to be the same.

  • Jazz-Blues Psychedelic Masterpiece

    4 out of 5 stars
    UxnheliftMay 9, 2025United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

This vinyl record is quite weighty (172 g.) and flat. What an exceptional album for the band! They never quite captured that magic again. It's a fantastic album with a truly satisfying sound. Here, you've got a blend of jazz, blues, and psychedelic rock. It was right after this album that I started getting into jazz.
