When you play this LP on a Rega RP3+Bias2, hooked up to a Denon PMA520-AE amp and Sennheiser HD 558 headphones, the sound is incredibly close and low in volume. It's dark and gloomy, almost muddy, like it's a bootleg copy. It's as if every instrument was stuffed into a box before recording. Side B is just terrible, with distortion that sounds like someone scratched the mastering. Orrible and delusion!
Perfectly amazing S+ album, I just wish their other albums made me feel the same way.
Majority of songs sound good, few are terrible and super secret, can't even listen to them!!!!!
Trying to figure out the year of this record is a bit confusing (I bought it labeled as Europe 2003, but I'm thinking it might actually be the 2015 re-release). Even so, the sound quality on my basic setup is really impressive. (project-debut carbon evo, NAD C316BEE, BW 607 Anniversary)
Audio seems a bit muffled, but it's surely a step up from the CD version.
