Product description

Wilco's debut studio album, "A.M.," released on March 28, 1995, under Sire/Warner Records, is a compelling introduction to the band's unique blend of alt-country, Americana, and indie rock. Emerging from the ashes of Uncle Tupelo, Wilco's first offering is a raw and unfiltered exploration of their evolving sound, setting the stage for their future innovations.

With a runtime of just under 45 minutes, "A.M." packs a punch with its 13 tracks, each offering a glimpse into the band's early creative process. The album opens with the energetic "I Must Be High" and closes with the soulful "Too Far Apart," showcasing Wilco's versatility and range. Standout tracks like "Casino Queen" and "Box Full of Letters" highlight the band's knack for storytelling and melody, while "Shouldn't Be Ashamed" and "That's Not the Issue" delve into more introspective themes.

Though it may not yet exhibit the finely-tuned pop sensibilities that would later define Wilco's sound, "A.M." is a strong and promising debut. The album's alternative country-rock and indie rock influences create a rich tapestry of sound that is both nostalgic and forward-looking. For fans of Wilco and enthusiasts of the genres it spans, "A.M." is a fascinating listen and a testament to the band's enduring appeal.

This 2025 Limited Edition Numbered Reissue LP is housed in a gatefold, pressed on 180g vinyl.

  • Rhino's 90s Reissues

    5 out of 5 stars
    vubmvsuJanuary 11, 2026United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Rhino has done it again with another fantastic sounding release! I'm really hoping they'll bring us more reissues from the 90s soon.

  • Finest Noise-Free Version

    5 out of 5 stars
    Nakhoc_Veas_VoapvSeptember 27, 2025United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

This album isn't exactly a groundbreaking audio experience, but this version is hands down the finest I've come across. It's got a smooth, noise-free sound that's really impressive.

  • Wilco's Worst, Rhino's Worst

    4 out of 5 stars
    iyusdeculi49September 13, 2025United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

This Wilco album is by far the poorest sounding one I have. It's painfully shrill and overly bright, with too much detail that ends up being dull and harsh. I'm not joking around, sadly. I own all his other albums, mostly original pressings, and they're way better. Maybe I got a bad copy? Also, I bought 5 records from Rhino Hifi, but they only sent this one out of the five - they kept the rest of my money. I had to open a dispute with my bank and file a complaint with the FTC.

  • Superior Sound Quality

    5 out of 5 stars
    xgufa3ondSeptember 12, 2025United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

I wasn't sure about getting this one since I already have the VMP and Deluxe versions. Though I like the extra songs on the Deluxe, the sound quality on those just doesn't compare. This pressing has a clarity and detail I've never noticed before, and I've played this album plenty. The bass hits hard, and you can really hear each instrument separate. Jeff's vocals are right up front and super clear. The record itself is dead quiet with no crackles or flaws. I'm gonna sell my VMP copy and this will be my main one from here on out.

  • VMP Pressings Disappoint

    3 out of 5 stars
    fzookjnobuPUSeptember 2, 2025United StatesπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Harsh 'S' sounds all over this album. What a bummer. It could've been amazing. Every VMP pressing I've tried is awful. I'm done with them.
