Got this one when it first came out but just started playing it not too long ago! My version sounds fantastic, really punchy
Warning: This isn't the same vibe as their earlier stuff. Seriously, they must've taken a trip back to '75, popped a few Quaaludes, and decided to craft an album reminiscent of The Weeknd and Harry C Jr. Who needs that old Killers knockoff sound anyway?
A Short Examination of Internet Connections. Even though they've only just gained artistic respect, the 1975 actively sought praise such as βHymn of Our Era,β βthe millennial response to OK Computer,β βan unquestionably 2018 outlook on pop music,β itβs my 2nd favorite by them after βsleepβ
This is a pretty decent pressing. I reckon it's still in stock. I picked this up 2 years ago, and I just found another copy at a nearby store, so I doubt it's been gathering dust there for that long.
The presentation might be all fancy and well put together, but the records themselves are so poorly mixed and low in volume that it's just unbearable. There's absolutely no punch or dynamics to this entire album, it's as if they didn't even take the time to mix it properly for vinyl. It's so disappointing that it completely turned me off from ever wanting to listen to this album again, and at the outrageous price this was sold for, I definitely feel ripped off. Save your money, just get a digital copy or a CD version if you're set on it. It's a real shame because the music on the album is actually pretty great. There's some solid electronic indie pop in there, but without the mixing that made the album work in the first place, there's just no point.
