While I'm a huge fan of Narada Michael Walden's production work, his mixing and mastering decisions often leave much to be desired. This album desperately calls for a complete remix and remaster, starting from the ground up. The songs are absolutely phenomenal, and Aretha is truly at her best, but the audio quality is disappointingly sub-par.
This disc sounds fantastic and is a great album overall, except for the terrible track "Push". There's a small part missing from the end of "Sisters", but it's not a big deal, I think it's like that on every copy.
This pressing has a decent sound, but it's not exceptional. Aretha's vocals can come off as far away and somewhat buried in the mix on certain songs.
The pressing is clean, but it's a typical loud 80s production. The dynamic range isn't the best, but the separation is alright and the vocals are well done.
