Product Description

Arctic Monkeys burst onto the scene with their debut album, "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not," released on January 29, 2006, under Domino Recording Co. This indie garage rock masterpiece clocks in at just over 41 minutes, packing a punch with its raw energy and sharp lyricism. The album opens with "The View From The Afternoon" and doesn't let up, delivering hit after hit, including the iconic "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor." Arctic Monkeys' debut is a testament to their ability to capture the essence of youth culture with a gritty, unpolished edge. Tracks like "Fake Tales of San Francisco" and "When The Sun Goes Down" showcase the band's knack for storytelling, while "Riot Van" and "Dancing Shoes" highlight their infectious, anthemic hooks. "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" is a bold, brash introduction to one of the most exciting bands of the 21st century, setting the stage for their future success.

This is a 2025 Reissue Repress released as a LP.

  • Vinyl Audio and Book Delight

    5 out of 5 stars
    niwheet.rjoqokie29 November 2025United States🇺🇸

The audio is amazing! I really like the smoky look of the vinyl, and the photo book that comes with it is top-notch, super glossy!

  • Impressive Debut Album, Minor Audio Flaws

    4 out of 5 stars
    Iqtufceuc4210 November 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

If I could, I'd give this 4.5 stars. It's an amazing first album, and considering these were just kids, aged 18-20 when they recorded it, the music's maturity and the cleverness of the lyrics are truly impressive for their age. The vinyl sounds great and is definitely worth buying. There's a bit of compression and some sibilance/distortion in the vocals. Like others have said, it'd be nice to have a 45RPM version or a repress spread over 3 or 4 sides. This album is that good... maybe for its 20th anniversary in 2026?

  • VMP's Best Pressing Yet

    4 out of 5 stars
    OJ3Q2 November 2025United States🇺🇸

As usual, VMP has delivered an excellent pressing. However, I'm noticing some harshness on side B that's keeping me from giving it a perfect score. Still, it's undoubtedly the best version of this album available.

  • Quality, Minor Clicks

    5 out of 5 stars
    ceefhdob9728 October 2025United States🇺🇸

Excellent quality, no problems here. A few tiny clicks on the second song, but it's really no big deal!

  • Young Band's Explosive Energy

    5 out of 5 stars
    Faxzag17 September 2025France🇫🇷

Wow, such a young band at that time! (The lead singer was about 17, I think…) Their energy is incredible, a typically British efficiency that's off the charts! 💥
