  • Joe's Virtuoso Sequel Shines

    4 out of 5 stars
    zikuRM_12 March 2025United States🇺🇸

This sequel to Joe's well-known Virtuoso #1 is a fantastic addition, featuring a set of more contemporary pieces, including tracks by Coltrane, Corea, and the composer of "Feelings". It's worth mentioning that Joe's authentic guitar tone makes a comeback on this album, unlike the electric track on V#1, which was a bit of a disaster with that awful tinny room mic. The playing is top-notch, as you'd anticipate, although I found the first record to have more energy and excitement overall. It's a bit laid-back, but Joe really heats things up on "Green Dolphin Street". The sound quality is superb. His ES-175 is well-balanced, with a slight boominess that's not overpowering. The pressing seems solid. Highly recommended.

  • Joe's Virtuoso #2: Relaxed Brilliance

    4 out of 5 stars
    weveGQ_24 July 2024United States🇺🇸

Following up on one of Joe's most recognized pieces, Virtuoso #1, this album showcases a set of more contemporary songs, including tracks by Coltrane, Corea, and the composer of "Feelings". It's worth mentioning that Joe's authentic guitar tone has returned on this record, unlike the electric track on V#1, which was a disaster due to a tinny room mic. The playing is as impressive as anticipated, although I found the first album to be more energetic overall. The mood is quite relaxed, except for "Green Dolphin Street", where Joe really shines. The audio quality is superb. His ES-175 is well-balanced, with a slight boominess that's not overpowering. The pressing seems to be of good quality. Highly recommended.

  • Joe's Virtuoso Contemporary Return

    4 out of 5 stars
    raxiYJ_5 June 2024United States🇺🇸

Following up on one of Joe's most acclaimed works, Virtuoso #1, this album showcases a set of more contemporary pieces, including tracks by Coltrane, Corea, and the composer of "Feelings". It's also worth mentioning that Joe's authentic guitar tone makes a welcome return here, unlike the electric track on V#1 which suffered from a dreadfully thin room mic issue. The playing is as impressive as anticipated, although I found the first record to have a bit more vigor and excitement overall. The album leans towards a more relaxed vibe, though Joe really heats things up on "Green Dolphin Street". The audio quality is superb. His ES-175 is well-balanced, with a slight boominess that's not overbearing. The pressing appears to be solid. Highly recommended.
