This initial UK/European edition truly encapsulates the unfiltered essence of the album as it debuted back in 2003. The audio is rich and distinct — warm, immersive, and robust yet never overly refined. It doesn’t aim to be “high-fidelity,” but it’s vibrant and well-balanced, just as these tracks should sound. The vinyl itself spins quietly, with no annoying surface disturbances, and the pressing feels sturdy and dynamic. Guitars resonate with space, the bass hums deep and consistent, and Damon’s voice shines through clearly without being lost in the blend.Unlike subsequent re-releases with bonus tracks or thick vinyl, this version stays simple and pure. That’s its appeal — it’s the album as it was intended to be experienced in 2003, unaltered and direct. A genuine first pressing worth keeping.
STUNNING packaging, sounds absolutely flawless.
I picked this up when it first came out back in 2003, fantastic album. There's a certain melancholy to the tracks. I reckon Coxon only makes a brief appearance here too. After Gorillaz blew up, Albarn was getting more and more involved. It's quite the dubbed out experience, but that's what I appreciate about it.
To access the secret track at the start of the CD, you gotta pause it on track 1. Then, hit rewind until you see minus 6:50. Press play and enjoy one of this album's more experimental dance tunes!
Has anyone els noticed this? The lyrics aren't completly spot on.
