  • Thrilled with Sound and Packaging

    5 out of 5 stars
    psixacycxxueq_16 November 2025United States🇺🇸

Absolutely thrilled with this record! The sound quality is fantastic, with excellent dynamics, a well-balanced mix, and a punchy feel. Plus, the packaging and color scheme are really top-notch!

  • Album's Hidden Gems

    5 out of 5 stars
    Xogyc28 October 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

I'm happy that Food and SBK initially turned down this album because For Tomorrow and Chemical World, which were later added to please them, happen to be two of the standout tracks in my opinion. However, I can't quite understand how an album that already featured Star Shaped, Villa Rosie, and Coping (and even Turn It Up) could have been deemed as lacking singles, or why Sunday Sunday was chosen as the third single ahead of these. I agree with the other reviewers that, despite the low volume, when you crank up the volume on this pressing, it sounds fantastic. It's expansive and moody, but the vocals and acoustic guitars really stand out above the mix if you've got a system that can properly handle them. But on Oily Water, there are two very noticeable tape dropouts in the left channel - are these present on other editions too? Are they intentional? And...does this imply that this track was recorded to tape? I thought the album was digitally recorded since it was made well into the Nineties, but perhaps I'm mistaken?(Just to mention, I adore this pressing, but for the prices people are asking, I think I'd probably opt for the reissue if I was buying it now - I got fortunate, is all, and found this for three or four quid in a second-hand shop in York in the early 00s)

  • Missing Sticker and Code

    5 out of 5 stars
    weryzouwoq091726 August 2025United States🇺🇸

I got my copy all wrapped up tight, but it didn't have that cool sticker they showed on the front picture. Plus, their wasn't no code to download stuff. Is that how it's supposed to be?

  • UK Pressing Triumphs

    5 out of 5 stars
    djtahlsnar4322 August 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Popscene was included later on for the US version. I recall picking up the initial UK pressing and then spotting the Popscene 12" in a tiny record store not long after it came out. The original pressing is quite good, and, as you'd anticipate, better than the CD. For me, 'For Tomorrow' is one of the finest album openers in my whole collection... the rest of the album is amazing, and a fantastic reinvention when they were on the brink financially and heading towards obscurity. From what I've heard, the official re-releases do sound rather nice, and a bargain at 23 quid.

  • Album Skip Issue Fixed

    4 out of 5 stars
    avudejar_dgiik16 July 2025United States🇺🇸

Alright, so the original version of this album has a 'skip' in 'Oily Water', but it's actually on all copies from 1993. The remastered versions don't have this issue.
