Mine is completely quiet (I gave it an ultra sonic clean and it's playing in mono mode on my phono pre). If you try stereo mode, it's gonna be loud. Sounds amazing when turned up, the bass is insane on this. I'm loving this album.
I'm over the moon with my purchase! The packaging is gorgeous, the gatefold cover is thick and robust, the vinyl is smooth and silent, and the sound quality is phenomenal. It's packed with bass, the vocals are warm and clear, and the soundstage is incredibly dense yet detailed. The stereo mixes on side four, especially "Vege-Tables," are absolutely mesmerizing. Five stars and a big smiley face!
Honestly, I'm not sure why I didn't check this out before I bought it today. I spent 80 bucks on a great version, but I'm not sure if I like it enough to keep it. Is the reissue really that much better?
I couldn't get my hands on the first 2025 edition as it flew off the shelves in a jiffy, so I'm unsure if this is a second pressing or still from 2025. The Discogs page mentions it was made at the Burlington Ontario plant, but my copy sports a GZ Media 'Made in Czech Republic' sticker on the back cover. Both discs have a slight bend, but it doesn't seem to mess with the playback, or at least I don't reckon it does. That being said, both records were super clean, though I do give them a once-over with my US Cleaner. The sound quality is fantastic, which is what really counts. It's dead silent with no pops or hiss and the sound quality is top-notch. I've been hunting for this album for ages, refusing to shell out the big bucks for the 2011 versions, and I'm stoked I managed to snag this 2025 copy before they were all gone.
Wow wow wow wow great. Quiet vinyl, fantastic master, out-of-this-world music. As excellent as mono can be.
