The sound quality of this version is fantastic. Barely any hiss, and you can snag it at a discount from plenty of places.
Boisterous. Powerful. Unrelenting. Though not an audiophile masterpiece, this burst of raw power feels like pure chaos. Yet, this US initial pressing suffers from a muddy low end and a lack of clarity in the midrange. The guitars feel lifeless due to the tamed highs. Now, I'm on the hunt for a UK first pressing! [Tech specs in my profile]
Curious about the audio quality? I've had the newest version of this album. Even though it was digitally recorded, it didn't sound terrible. In fact, it sounded pretty decent. The copy I have now is the 1977 Los Angeles edition. Comparing the two, this one has a bit of a muddy sound, but the music feels more captivating. It's like there's a certain rawness to the guitars—definitely a plus! But the clarity just isn't up to par. This 1977 Los Angeles pressing doesn't come with the sleeve that has the sticker for "Submission," even though "Submission" is listed. So, it probably came out later in '77. They say the UK pressing is the best first pressing, so I might try to track one down. But this one, despite the lack of clarity, transports me back to 1977 and perfectly captures the gritty vibe the Sex Pistols were going for.
Way improved compared to the rubbish lo-fi US version. Does this match the UK one?
My model, liste 25593-270, crafted in West Germany by TOPAC, delivers an amazing audio experience. The sound is powerful, vibrant, and clear.
