This album is basically a repeat of his 1961 debut, At The Rock House, except it's missing one track, the songs are in a different order, and the cover art is swapped out.
I'm not entirely positive that this album came out before "Lonely And Blue," but it probably hit the shelves to ride the wave of success from "Only The Lonely" and "Blue Angel," which were released prior to this one. Fun fact: "Rock House" was penned by Conway Twitty, born Harold Lloyd Jenkins. "You're My Baby" was a Johnny Cash creation. Apart from the two albums dedicated to Don Gibson and Hank Williams, this is the sole album where you won't find any Roy Orbison compositions.
At some point, folks are gonna figure out that these wax time releases are seriously impressive... sure, they MAY just be CDs on vinyl, but they're executed flawlessly, DMM, and pressed on some of the flattest, quietest vinyl out there... and they're still ridiculously affordable... go ahead and drop a small fortune on some so-called analog audiophile edition...Michael Fremer will be thrilled! I've got a pile of jazz vinyl from wax time, all at half to a third the price of those newer, fancy limited editions... most of these wax times even outperform them in terms of quiet vinyl... nothing beats shelling out 50 bucks or more for some audiophile release, only to have to run it through a wet vacuum cleaning system multiple times before it'll play... just to realize that fancy new pressing is pretty much a CD on vinyl anyway, despite whatever marketing hype they used to reel you in...
Even though 'STEREO' is writen on the front, every track is actually in mono.
