Back in the day, this album was something else, and even now, it's fantastic. I was lucky enough to snag a reissue before Light in the Attic got their hands on it and have been spinning it for years at bar gigs, surprising unsuspecting listeners. It's a rock-solid album by an incredible musician, backed by an awesome team. Definitely give it a listen - it's a great record to have, perfect for when friends are over and maybe enjoying a few drinks. Crank up the volume!
This album is an absolute blast! You might find it a tad cheesy due to its high-energy, maxed-out volume, and the rock & roll vibes oozing from every track, but it's classic Bo Diddley with a 1970s twist. It's a joy to listen to, and Bo even shakes up his vocal style in songs like "I Don't Like You". This record is a non-stop good time from start to finish.
Incredible album blending Funk, Blues, Soul, what a mad sound!! The bass, the drums, the guitar, everything is played sublimely, a real gem, I highly recommend it, this reissue is top-notch and sounds superb so don't hesitate.
Translated automatically,It ain't quite right to group this album with "Electric Mud" or "This is Howlin' Wolf's New Album". "The Black Gladiator" has Bo's signature sound, just with a tad more edge and style. And it's a solid listen.
