The vinyl arrived all marked up and grimy from the printed inner sleeve without that static stuff, why do they keep making this blunder time and again? But hey, the pressing is fantastic, super quiet, no hiss (thank goodness, the scratches didn't mess with the sound), crisp, and full of punch.
Watch out for quality control problems with this record - I had to swap it out three times since every single copy was off-kilter with awful sound issues, skips, and speed changes. Couldn't help but chuckle at 'Born of A Broken Man' sounding like something was gasping for air. Eventually threw in the towel after the fourth disc also had problems, just not worth the trouble and risk to my needle.
Received a great, pristine copy that sounds amazing after a swift wet clean to remove the release agent from the grooves.
Audio quality is absolutely stunning. The background noise is barely there, and when that bass in Testify hits - wow, it's simply gorgeous, plus the dynamics are quite impressive. MOV did an amazing job with this reissue. On my system, the guitar does sound a bit different than on the 1992 album, but overall, this album on this pressing is just fantastic.
This is an incredible pressing - it's loud, has no noise, and the instruments are distinctly separated. The vocals might be a tad too low, but they're still super clear and sound fantastic. It's definitely worth the cost to have a reliable copy of this, considering the problems that seem to be common with other Battle of Los Angeles pressings.
