Product Description

Rage Against The Machine's "The Battle of Los Angeles," released on November 2, 1999, under Epic Records, is a powerful and politically charged album that solidifies the band's status as pioneers in the rap metal, rap rock, and nu metal genres. Clocking in at just under 45 minutes, this album is a relentless journey through socially conscious lyrics and aggressive, hard-hitting instrumentals.

The album opens with "Testify," a track that immediately sets the tone with its explosive energy and thought-provoking lyrics. "Guerrilla Radio" and "Calm Like a Bomb" follow, showcasing the band's signature blend of rap and rock, with Zack de la Rocha's powerful vocals and Tom Morello's innovative guitar work taking center stage. "Sleep Now in the Fire" and "Born of a Broken Man" delve into themes of social injustice and personal struggle, while "Maria" and "Voice of the Voiceless" highlight the band's commitment to giving a voice to the marginalized.

"The Battle of Los Angeles" is not just a collection of songs; it's a statement. Tracks like "New Millennium Homes" and "Ashes in the Fall" critique consumerism and environmental degradation, while "War Within a Breath" brings the album to a close with a powerful reflection on the internal and external conflicts that define our world. Throughout the album, Rage Against The Machine's signature sound—characterized by its fusion of rap and rock, politically charged lyrics, and innovative instrumentation—is on full display, making this a standout release in their discography.

This is a 2025 Reissue Repress released as a LP.

  • Damaged but Well-Pressed Vinyl

    5 out of 5 stars
    jnisiqpacwut19 December 2025United States🇺🇸

The vinyl arrived all marked up and grimy from the printed inner sleeve without that static stuff, why do they keep making this blunder time and again? But hey, the pressing is fantastic, super quiet, no hiss (thank goodness, the scratches didn't mess with the sound), crisp, and full of punch.

  • Quality Control Nightmare

    1 out of 5 stars
    cnlmosh9 December 2025United States🇺🇸

Watch out for quality control problems with this record - I had to swap it out three times since every single copy was off-kilter with awful sound issues, skips, and speed changes. Couldn't help but chuckle at 'Born of A Broken Man' sounding like something was gasping for air. Eventually threw in the towel after the fourth disc also had problems, just not worth the trouble and risk to my needle.

  • Pristine Copy Sounds Amazing

    5 out of 5 stars
    DZUSKU7 December 2025United States🇺🇸

Received a great, pristine copy that sounds amazing after a swift wet clean to remove the release agent from the grooves.

  • Stunning Audio Reissue

    5 out of 5 stars
    Hisxfawdig923 November 2025United States🇺🇸

Audio quality is absolutely stunning. The background noise is barely there, and when that bass in Testify hits - wow, it's simply gorgeous, plus the dynamics are quite impressive. MOV did an amazing job with this reissue. On my system, the guitar does sound a bit different than on the 1992 album, but overall, this album on this pressing is just fantastic.

  • Loud, Clear, Worth It

    5 out of 5 stars
    fxsohv23 September 2025United States🇺🇸

This is an incredible pressing - it's loud, has no noise, and the instruments are distinctly separated. The vocals might be a tad too low, but they're still super clear and sound fantastic. It's definitely worth the cost to have a reliable copy of this, considering the problems that seem to be common with other Battle of Los Angeles pressings.
