When I picked up this 2010's pop/R&B vinyl, I wasn't expecting much, but it's actually pretty decent. It's a tad compressed, as you'd anticipate from modern standards, but it's not too extreme. All in all, it's got better dynamics than the digital versions.
Awesome sounding album with powerful bass and vocals that are crisp and clear. There's a slight crackle here and there, even after cleaning. Has anyone else noticed this?
This isn't the absolute worst record pressing I've come across, but it's far from the best. It's a real bummer, 'cause this album truly deserves a top-notch pressing. Both LPs feel flat and lack that punch or range. On the bright side, there wasn't any annoying background noise or distortion issues, so after my ears got used to the lack of crispness, I still couldn't help but boogie like that dancing banana when "Let the Groove Get In" kicked in... Anyway, the gatefold cover is quite nice with some fancy embossed text, but the records themselves look, feel, and sound pretty cheap. And those flimsy paper sleeves? Total junk, I ditched 'em right away. Even though I'm not blown away by this pressing, I went ahead and ordered Part 2 while listening to it, 'cause I can't just have half of the 20/20 Experience in my collection, right?
The copy I got has the side c label on both sides of the second record, I can't figure out how they botched this
gotta admit, this master is way better than i thought it'd be. it's a tad heavy on the bass, but apart from that, the sound is rich and spacious. 'mirrors' is the only track that sounds overly digital and squashed (but that's just how it was made). the vinyl's pretty standard for united; a bit off-center, some light warps. my tonearm goes on a little journey every time i spin it. the music itself is incredible. this album really took me by surprise with how well it's put together. this one and FT/LS are JT at his absolute best.
