This is an absolutely smokin' set of groovy soul jazz, easily one of McGriff's finest from the '70s. It's a real bummer that the drummer's not given credit, 'cause they're on fire. Doug Payne's pretty thorough McGriff discography doesn't mention a drummer neither. The sound quality on this pressing is fantastic, lively and dynamic, with excellent detail in the music and a broad, open soundstage. My copy plays super smooth, with hardly any surface noise. Top-notch stuff.
Jimmy's latest album is incredibly powerful, it's quite the underrated gem … definitely ranks among my top 5 favorites from him!
