Indeed - The audio is heavily panned, with Otis' voice way over on the right side. Initially, this was a bit peculiar. But eventually, it creates a weird closeness. Almost like he's murmuring directly into your ear, lol. If you've got some high-end speakers, they'll really showcase his vocals.
Gone too soon..." "Dock Of The Bay" indeed became a massive success for Otis after he passed...The track ain't on this record, but no worries...This '65 album is packed with Otis' finest tunes..."Respect" and even one of MY all-time favorite rock songs "Satisfaction" are performed by Otis flawlessly...The Stones made it big with it, but Otis elevates the song to new heights and makes it his own...This is the ULTIMATE collection of Otis Redding's hits, all in one place...Fantastic rock history across all twelve tracks, so dive in and enjoy!
Is anyone experiencing a locked groove at the end of Side A on the mono vinyl?
Authentic Soul straight from the legendary Mister Redding himself. Majority of the tracks here are covers, featuring a lovely rendition of 'Respect' originally by Aretha Franklin and 'My Girl' from The Temptations. This album was my first encounter with the cover of 'Satisfaction' by the Stones. The record itself sounds fantastic and the sleeve is printed and laminated beautifully. Received a flawless copy from MusicaMore, Deventer, The Netherlands. Keep Steady and Spinning.-Teo
I concur with the previous comment about this record having a noticeable noise floor, and although I think the mono version of Otis Blue is the ultimate one (and am a bit disappointed this wasn't released in mono), this stereo version still sounds incredible. The instruments are wonderfully distinct, and the horns pack a real punch. One thing that truly caught my attention on the first listen was how the piano chords in the opening verses of 'My Girl' are so much warmer and richer than what I've heard on my mono and stereo CD versions. This is the only vinyl copy of Otis Blue I own, and I'm not disappointed in the slightest.
