It took me a couple of listens to truly enjoy this album. The first and third songs are super sweet, poppy electronic tunes, which aren't really my thing. But they're still pretty catchy and fit nicely on this record. Fortunately, the rest of the album is pure The Orb, exactly what I love. It's got that reggae-inspired beat and sounds, mixed with some vocal samples that work perfectly in the second track. Tracks 5 and 7 are awesome rhythmic treats with a chill vibe. The final tracks are fresh classical explorations, loaded with that classic Orb sampling style. All in all, it's an album with a super wide range of musical flavors.
Incredible album from an incredible band. The Orb proves that as pioneers of modern ambient music, they've still got it.
The Orb store totally messed up my order big time. I get it, they had a ton of bundles to deal with, but I ordered two black vinyl records and two red ones, and I only got one art print, one cover print, and just one Instrumental CD. But the confirmation email (which isn't part of any bundle, all items are listed separately) clearly shows that each vinyl copy comes with an Instrumental CD. Plus, the red vinyl came in the "Normal cover" – was the red vinyl really supposed to have a different cover? I thought I bought one deluxe edition (with the normal CD) and two separate black and red vinyl editions, but they didn't confirm the bundles, split them all up, and then claimed the Instrumental CD was purchased separately for free, as if you could order just the Instrumental CD for nothing.
Could you share your thoughts on the pressing quality? I've got the red vinyl version and it's absolutely awful.
The music CD is a 5 star! Truly amazing!
