About Peter Maxwell Davies

Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, affectionately known as Max, was a towering figure in British and European music, celebrated for his innovative and often unpredictable compositions. Born in Salford in 1934, Davies rose to prominence in the late 1960s with his neo-expressionistic works, becoming one of the most significant composers of his generation. His prolific output and wide-ranging style made him a profound contributor to musical history, both in the UK and internationally. In 2004, he was honored with the title of Master of the Queen's Music, cementing his place in musical lore. Davies' work continues to captivate audiences, with his unique voice resonating through the classical music world.
