Absolutely amazing sound, top-notch production, my copy's in great shape, gotta have it!
Audio quality is superb, nothing else like it compared to CDs or mp3s. High frequencies are incredibly clear, mid frequencies are good, but low frequencies aren't as strong, which is understandable for a late 70s model. In my opinion, with a bit of a boost in the low end, it would be absolutely perfect!
The audio mastering is quite intense. The guitars are crisp and clear, yet Klaus Meine's vocals seem to get lost in the mix. The vinyl pressing itself is decent, but the overall sound quality is disappointing. The high frequencies are overly pronounced and can become quite irritating after a while.
This Mexican reissue is just as disappointing as some of the other poorly handled Scorpions Mercury re-releases. The guitars and cymbals are harsh, like nails on a chalkboard, and Klaus's vocals are a bit buried in the mix. It's not a well-mastered track. The 6-panel fold-out is alright, with some nice pictures that do a decent job of recreating the original art, and there are printed lyrics (though the font is small). I'm just glad I only paid $7.99 for this new copy. I'll keep looking for a better-sounding version.
As many have pointed out, this one's quite bright in terms of sound. I had to dial down the treble a bit to make it tolerable. It doesn't quite match up to the older versions. It's neat that it comes with a CD, though. I absolutely adore this album, but this pressing just doesn't do it justice. I'll only keep it because of the hilarious cover art, haha.
