The dynamic range feels a bit squashed. Apart from that, the sound detail is really good for an album this old.
I wholeheartedly concur with andreaboi; this is hands-down the finest CD mastering of this phenomenal album. The sound is rich and immersive, with a punchy bass that truly shines. It outshines every other digital version out there. Just a quick heads-up, though, while most Audio Fidelity releases are marked as HDCD and foobar recognizes them as such, they lack peak extension encoding, so you won't get the HDCD perks. That said, this CD is absolutely stellar—Kevin Gray has outdone himself yet again!
Simply unmatched, this band has no equals. They've shaped every artist born between 1960 and 1976. Metallica and Slayer wouldn't exist as we know them without this band. In my view, this is their finest work. Their live albums are phenomenally recorded, capturing the essence of their performances. I once saw them live, and they were flawless. Absolute legends.
Unlike the two comments above, I had no issues at all. This is a HDCD CD, it requires proper decoding and good audio equipment to fully appreciate the enhancements. Those complaining about dynamic range should upgrade their system or keep listening to low-quality music on Spotify with inferior devices.
EMI Harvest's DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) version, pressed in Uden, Netherlands, delivers a truly impressive audio experience. The sound quality is exceptionally clear and sharp.
