Sounds fantastic from start to finish, crisp and enjoyable tracks, the Japan release has aged beautifully over 45 years and I'll definitely give it a spin!
This album's got a couple of misses, but overall, it's a fantastic record. Elvis is fully committed here. It's a great blend of upbeat R&B and country tunes. There's a beautiful country-folk track, "If I Were You," and a heartfelt gospel number, "Only Believe." Even the more middle-of-the-road songs like "Heart of Rome" are terrific. Elvis was convinced to re-record his 1966 global hit, the slow ballad "Love Letters." His vocals are much improved, but the instrumentation is a bit... overdone. Don't listen to the critics. Go ahead and buy this CD! I'm not sure the FTD package is really needed with all the outtakes.
