This ain't the best reissue out there. Sure, the cover's alright, but who cares about that, yeah? It's all about the tunes and the sound quality, right? I gave it a spin next to the first U.S. pressing, and man, the difference is massive. The U.S. version's got more oomph, better dynamics, and way more detail. Honestly, you'd be better off snagging a mint or near mint first pressing for less cash. This Europe reissue? Not bringing any happiness, that's for sure. Just a collectible item... maybe... perhaps not... you figure it out!
I once had a copy of this record that was owned by Larry Strickland. You know, Elvis's bass singer who's actually featured on this very album. He was hitched to Naomi Judd, if you can believe it.
Picked up a NM translucent blue original, it sounds as fantastic as you'd expect from a nearly 45 year old record. The Graceland tracks aren't as punchy as the live ones, but it's still an awesome set of his later songs. I'm really happy with how it sounds overall!
The vinyl record is in excellent condition, graded VG+, and delivers great sound. Plus, it's the sought-after blue translucent pressing.
Just compared the Japanese pressing side by side with the original USA blue vinyl, and the Japanese version has a bit more brightness, which brings out more detail and clarity in the highs. Excellent quality, and very quiet pressing too.
