Listen to track 3, "Soon", shut your eyes and give it around 60 seconds. Doesn't this track remind you of the live performance at Donte's? That's all I needed to know, this album is a solid one. When you get Joe going, he really knows how to deliver. I just wish the slower songs weren't so slow, because Joe's best fast-paced bebop happens in a trio or quartet setup. The recording is crystal clear and well-mixed. Pisano stays in the background, maybe a bit too much. 3.5 stars.
