This pressing sounds fantastic! It's packed with power and detail, featuring punchy drums, robust bass, and crisp vocals. Arnie Acosta did an amazing job mastering this one. Even the inner grooves sound as impressive as the outer ones. Setup: Rega Planar 3 RS TT, Rega Fono MM MK2 Preamp, Musical Fidelity M6i Amp, Canton SL 590 DC Speakers.
The audio quality is decent, I guess? It's not particularly impressive, though. It does offer a broad soundstage. However, I must mention that certain tracks had a bit too much brightness and caused some ear fatigue. Overall, I'd still say it's worth considering. It's not an audiophile-grade recording, though, and I wouldn't advise paying the premium prices they're charging for this version. I snagged a Near Mint copy for $60, including shipping to Peru, which I feel is a fair deal. I wouldn't spend much more than that.
Trust me, grab this album, not merely for the fact that it's Stevie Wonder and a true masterpiece, far ahead of its time in both production and songwriting with not a single track you'd want to skip, but also for how perfect this pressing is; a word to the wise is sufficient.
This pressing is fantastic, though it's still a tad muddy, much like other vinyl versions. However, it offers more clarity than the "Back to Black" version, which is quite disappointing. The backing vocals and horn section sound more lively, and there's a slight boost in both the high and low ends. But I reckon this album truly needs a vinyl remaster to unlock its full potential.
Apologies for the issues on side A: It's way off-center and has a terrible "orange peel" effect on tracks 4 and 5, rendering them pretty much unusable. Side B, fortunately, is way better, which is great since that's where "Master Blaster (Jammin')" is. All tracks have good dynamic range. Shame about the poor manufacturing quality.
