This pressing is really lively. My VG copy has some noise (even after ultrasonic cleaning), but good luck finding a pristine original of this album. Still, it's a joy to listen to despite the pops and ticks. There's a slight bit of harshness in the highs here and there.
The only reason this album costs so much is if Patti Smith is personally signing each copy.
I checked this out from the library (Brooklyn Public Library's got it now!) to stack it up against my 1975 VG copy. Both have that crackly sound, but this one just doesn't measure up. It's way less dynamic, and Patti's voice sounds like it's stuck in the back. Not worth your time.
Even though my copy was super clean, it sounded awful. I'd advise against this version.
