Product Description

Colin Stetson, known for his avant-garde approach to music, presents "Hereditary," a captivating exploration of sound and storytelling released on January 1, 2018, under Milan Records. This album is a testament to Stetson's unique ability to blend haunting melodies with intricate compositions, creating an immersive experience that lingers long after the final note fades.

"Hereditary" spans a duration of 1 hour and 11 minutes, featuring 20 tracks that weave a tapestry of emotions and narratives. The album opens with "Funeral," setting a somber tone that evolves through tracks like "Mothers & Daughters" and "Brother & Sister," delving into themes of family and personal history. The title track, "Hereditary," is a standout, showcasing Stetson's mastery of the saxophone and his ability to evoke deep, resonant emotions.

The album's second half, beginning with "Second Séance Pt. 1," takes a more experimental turn, with tracks like "Classroom" and "Dreaming" offering a surreal and introspective journey. "Book Burning" and "Joanie" add a layer of intensity, while "Leigh's Things" and "Steve" provide moments of reflection. The album concludes with "Hail, Paimon!," leaving the listener with a sense of closure and a newfound appreciation for Stetson's artistic vision.

"Hereditary" is a powerful and evocative work that highlights Colin Stetson's distinctive style and his ability to push the boundaries of contemporary music. Whether you're a long-time fan or new to his work, this album is sure to captivate and inspire.

This 2025 Limited Edition Reissue Repress 2LP set is pressed on Green vinyl.

  • Surface Noise, Great Music

    3 out of 5 stars
    reukzilgoyq11 October 2025United States🇺🇸

All four edges have some surface noise, which is indeed irritating, but the music (and the bass sound) is fantastic, and the gold of the pressing is gorgeous.

  • Missed Initial Drop, Still Worth It

    5 out of 5 stars
    yivazkjisrus617 September 2025United States🇺🇸

I'm really kicking myself for not snagging this when it first dropped, especially with the prices it's going for now. I may have had one too many one night and ended up getting a copy anyway... But no regrets here! The copy I scored has barely any background hiss and it's incredibly loud with tons of detail. It's an awesome pressing of an incredible soundtrack. Plus, it's probably my all-time favorite flick too.

  • Pristine Awesome Pressing

    4 out of 5 stars
    sjuviticipoe3 September 2024United States🇺🇸

My version is pristine...few minor crackles. Awesome pressing. (My initial copy was hissy)

  • Frustrating Surface Noise Issue

    3 out of 5 stars
    BeqhGtaoha8 April 2024United States🇺🇸

Constant surface noise throughout. It's quiet but always there. I couldn't get rid of it no matter what I tried. It's a bit frustrating, considering this record isn't cheap. Honestly, I often find such poor quality with vinyl soundtracks. That said, the music itself sounds great.
