Noticeable gaps of noise between the tracks. The songs are mastered really well.
I'm over the moon that I splurged on this. The vinyl mixes are absolutely divine. The bass hits hard, the record is flawless, and the vocals are out of this world. I can't figure out why they messed with the track order for the CD and digital versions when the vinyl's flow is just so incredibly perfect. As a longtime fan, Glitter is absolutely worth every penny if you can snag a copy. 10/10, no doubts about it.
Here's what's cool about the vinyl version: the songs are not in the same order as the CD. Because of this, some tracks have different intros and endings, since most of them usually flow into each other seamlessly. But not in this case. So, you've got exclusive versions here, only on this release.
This record is AMAZING! I'm thrilled I purchased it and kept it for so many years right after the film hit theaters! So many incredible songs and her voice is out of this world!
If you're a fan of the tracks and the backstory behind this album, it's an absolute must-have. The songs blend into each other so seamlessly that it makes you ponder what considerations went into the final edits that most of us are used to. The fact that all the 80s-inspired songs and covers are on one disc, and all the ballads are on the other, is truly remarkable. It enhances the listening experience tenfold. It's almost as if there's a shift in mood after "Loverboy"; "Lead the Way" has a distinct and genuinely beautiful intro in this version. On that note, I can share something I don't think many people are aware of! Some of the songs have significant differences between this release and the CD versions. Many of the vocals are altered, some tracks seem longer, and most have a ton of extra ad-libs. I received this as a gift and have the incredible fortune to say it was a new, sealed record from a Japanese collector (the person who gave it to me found it in a record store in Japan!). Funny enough, it had one of the issues most modern vinyls have—it was quite dirty! I must admit, it felt a bit odd cleaning 23-year-old dust and debris. After a thorough cleaning, I can say it sounds absolutely fantastic—great dynamics, punchy bass, and the vocals are crystal clear. The only downside is that the start of "Lead the Way" had some clicks and pops even after cleaning. The bigger disappointment is that it features a unique intro that's quite quiet and only available on this release, but I guess perfection is hard to come by! This is officially my favorite record and probably the best gift I've ever received. I truly hope every Mariah or glitter fan out there gets the chance to own this someday. I don't plan on parting with mine, but to each their own, I suppose (by the way, stream "Glitter"! It's one of Mariah's most underrated works and deserves recognition as one of her best musically!).
