Product Description

Dive into the electrifying world of jazz fusion with Herbie Hancock's "Flood," a live album that captures the essence of his groundbreaking performances in Tokyo during June and July of 1975. This dynamic collection showcases Hancock's virtuosic keyboard skills and his ability to blend various genres, including jazz, jazz fusion, jazz funk, hard bop, and cool jazz, into a cohesive and exhilarating musical experience.

"Flood" features eight tracks, each recorded live, offering an authentic and raw glimpse into Hancock's live performances. The album opens with "Introduction / Maiden Voyage," setting the stage for a journey through Hancock's innovative compositions and interpretations. Standout tracks like "Actual Proof" and "Chameleon" highlight his ability to create complex, yet accessible, musical landscapes that captivate and inspire.

With a runtime of 1 hour and 14 minutes, "Flood" is a testament to Hancock's enduring influence and creativity. Released on January 1, 1975, under the Columbia/Legacy label, this album is a must-listen for both longtime fans and newcomers to Herbie Hancock's extraordinary body of work.

This 2020 Limited Edition Reissue 2LP set is pressed on Red vinyl.

  • Herbie's Peaceful Gem

    5 out of 5 stars
    domvyufk11 November 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

This is such a wonderfully peaceful pressing and one of my all-time favorite Herbie albums, not just because of the incredible performances but also for the amazingly vibrant colors on the cover art. Does anyone know why the 1977 Japanese reissue always goes for higher prices than this original 1975 version?

  • Warped Records, Off-Center Side

    4 out of 5 stars
    SOAHA7 October 2025United States🇺🇸

The sound quality on this version is decent, but unfortunately, both records in my copy are warped, and Side 4 is really off-center. I also noticed that the vinyls seem like they were pressed at different factories, or at least they used totally different molds for making the discs...Quite odd!

  • Fantastic Soundstage and Dynamics

    5 out of 5 stars
    yzabqahbeg_birim20 August 2025United States🇺🇸

This pressing sounds fantastic. The soundstage is incredible and the dynamics are spot on. The vinyl is exceptionally quiet. Comes with a top-notch, high quality outer sleeve. I'm absolutely thrilled with this release. Would definitely recommend it.

  • Herbie's Fantastic Vinyl Package

    5 out of 5 stars
    MiqoxgElqyolay17 June 2025United States🇺🇸

This isn't my top pick from Herbie, but hey, no big deal. This isn't merely a great pressing -- it's a fantastic package overall. The cover looks sharp; they threw in a reprint of the original insert (written in Japanese); and the record label is spot-on with the original. The vinyl is super flat, deep black, and quiet. Awesome release.

  • Fantastic Sound Quality

    yxicor25 April 2025United States🇺🇸

To my ears, it sounds fantastic. I haven't compared it to a '75 or '77, but I can't picture those sounding any better than this one does.
