I must say, I'm quite astonished that this particular edition is still accessible online. Seizing the opportunity, I promptly purchased it and am utterly blown away by the audio quality. It's undoubtedly the finest-sounding vinyl record in my entire collection. Gives me all the chills, it does.
I've mentioned this before and I still agree that the sound quality is fantastic, but I've got a query about the lyrics on the final disc. My copy, which I reckon is the US version, was purchased from a local record store up in Canada. On my version, the track '7empest' definitely includes lyrics, even the 'cookies and cream' bit, lol. I've come across online comments saying that some versions have lyrics and some don't, and others claiming that no versions have lyrics at all. I'm just curious if there are others out there who actually have lyrics on that particular song.
I'm absolutely delighted with the sound quality! The C side of my copy does get a tad noisy in some spots, but it's still enjoyable to listen to and might improve after a good wet clean; all the records were quite static-y during their first spin. I was particularly thrilled with the panning effects on "Chocolate Chip Trip"! Now I understand why people use it to test their audio setups. It's odd that the insert in my copy was a bit bent and even stranger that they didn't include the lyrics for "Tempest" on it. Despite these minor issues, I'm not at all disappointed with my purchase, especially compared to the huge box set. It's a bit pricey, but it's definitely worth every penny!
This is an incredible box set! The packaging is flawless, it's like a true work of art. Chris Bellman's mastering is outstanding, Danny Carey's drums sound like they're right there in your living room, and Justin's bass guitar is so deep and clear. Grab one quick because I had a tough time securing mine. Before long, this box set will be legendary and highly sought after.
Disc one has a minor warp, but two and three are completely flat. There's a small imperfection on the etched side of disc three, near the inner label circle. The vinyl is quite delicate, with some scuffs on side D and slight discoloration at the end of side A. However, the sound quality is fantastic. There's just one small pop on side C, no surface noise or crackle. The dynamic range is excellent, with incredibly deep bass. It's a real pleasure to listen to.
