This album's truly one of Tyler's finest works of his career, and the fact he created it during a world tour is absolutely incredible. Even though my vinyl got warped and isn't playable, I can still appreciate the art when I see or hear it.
Okay, so no surprise here, Tyler the Creator's album's pressing quality is not up to par. First off, it's packaged in a PVC sleeve, which is a major bummer for me, and it's gonna make it tough to find this in the future without some kind of outgassing. Plus, there was a ton of static when I first took it out of the sleeve. Another issue I had with this pressing is that the PVC sleeve is a super tight fit, making it really hard to get the inner sleeve in without some folding. Oh, and a lot of people have had pressing errors with theirs. Mine isn't fully clear, it's got some cloudy spots and even black sections on the vinyl. A friend of mine got theirs with a fill error, totally ruining the record. The actual album is pretty good though, had some surface noise but I'm not surprised ordering a Tyler the Creator record. In conclusion, dear God Tyler and Columbia, please don't put me through this again.
The packaging is quite a shock, but the record itself sounds fantastic! There's a bit of surface noise and some record warp, but it's not too bad and doesn't really mess with the listening experience. I'm actually really digging that this version is just a tad different from the streaming one. It's like a game of spot the difference! My only real gripe is that this take on "Ring Ring Ring" just doesn't sound as good, but apart from that, I'd honestly prefer this pressing over any other "more accurate" versions that might come out later.
I bought this test pressing hoping it'd be like a mixtape for a party. It definitely hits the mark with the tracks and sound quality. The packaging, though, was just as flimsy as it looked in the website pics, encased in some cheap PVC sleeve.
My copy is in flawless shape, I got it from a seller on discogs, and it arrived in mint condition with zero problems. The sound quality is kinda disappointing, as some tracks have different mixing, but all in all, it's awesome. But the packaging, oh man, it's a BIG Nope, it might even be a deal breaker if you're not into PVC Sleeves. The off-gassing is terrible. Overall, an 8/10 for the record, 2/10 for the packaging.
