Product Description

Daryl Hall & John Oates' self-titled debut album, released on January 1, 1975, under Buddha Records, is a smooth and inviting introduction to the duo's signature sound. Blending yacht rock and soft rock genres, this 41-minute journey offers a collection of tracks that are as soothing as they are engaging.

The album opens with "Camellia," setting the tone for the laid-back yet sophisticated sound that follows. Standout tracks like "Sara Smile" and "Alone Too Long" showcase Daryl Hall & John Oates' knack for crafting melodies that are both memorable and easy to connect with. "Out of Me, Out of You" and "Nothing At All" delve into themes of love and introspection, while "Gino (The Manager)" adds a touch of humor and storytelling to the mix.

With "Ennui On the Mountain" and "Grounds for Separation," the duo explores more introspective and reflective themes, demonstrating their versatility and depth as songwriters. The album closes with "Ice," leaving you with a sense of satisfaction and a desire to revisit the tracks you've just heard.

Daryl Hall & John Oates' debut album is a testament to their enduring appeal and musical prowess, making it a timeless addition to any music lover's collection.

This 2018 Limited Edition Reissue LP is pressed on Pink vinyl.

  • Hall & Oates' Silver Comeback

    4 out of 5 stars
    grdoaxcauko17 October 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Daryl Hall and John Oates were on the brink when this album dropped. Despite that, the cover art doesn't do justice to the quality of the tracks inside. The songs from this, what we now refer to as The Silver Album, are as solid as those on Abandoned Luncheonette, and they're nothing like the stuff on War Babies. This is the record that catapulted them to fame with the hit “Sara Smile,” a tune about John’s girlfriend. The album also marked their comeback to the Philadelphia sound, that Rock N’ Soul vibe. Crafting smooth pop songs with a bit of an edge and building a cult following can't be easy... and it proved to be quite a challenge for John and Daryl to keep up. My only gripe with Hall and Oates was MTV; they got so much exposure that they started thinking they were invincible, that their fans would eat up anything they put out. While they did amass a massive fan base, they lost their original fans, and when the core crumbles, the whole thing falls apart, which is exactly what happened. You can still catch Hall and Oates today, they're back to playing small venues, it's personal, engaging, and just how it should be. Don't judge the book by its cover, just listen to the music. • Brilliant album, impressive quality

    5 out of 5 stars

The album is brilliant and the print quality is just as impressive! Don't be fooled by the somewhat dodgy but irresistible disco/glam/proto-gay vibe. Easy to find at an affordable price... Shame this band isn't more well-known around here.

  • H2O's Best Album Ever

    5 out of 5 stars
    jgp871822 August 2025United Kingdom🇬🇧

Hands down, this is my all-time favorite H2O album. Every single track is amazing, but side 2 is truly something else with those incredible, earworm pop tunes. It's an exhilarating listen, and the soundstage by zentz is top-notch. Make sure to grab an original foil pressing with the AZ in the deadwax. Trust me, you'll be thrilled you did!
