Oh so sweet and full of soul. The more I dive into Coltrane's music, the more I'm captivated by his work. It's a bit tricky to pick a favorite since each 'new to me' album seems to outshine the last. My copy's in great shape and delivers fantastic sound, especially impressive for a mono record.
Just a couple of days following the sessions for "The Cats" album, this release was later put out under Coltrane's name, even though he wasn't the original leader. It was initially recorded as part of "The Prestige All Stars" album, making up half of a record titled "Baritones and French Horns," but was reissued under Coltrane's name to capitalize on his fame after he'd left the label. There's some solid playing here, and it's definitely worth a spin, but it's not something I'm particularly fond of.
