Could the mix be better? Sure. But it still sounds good, and there is little to no surface noise on mine after just a quick cleaning. The quality of the packaging is fantastic and adds to the enjoyment. I'm happy with this one, especially compared to some of my other Florence records.
The recording is compressed and has a lot of static. It’s a pity this is such a bad pressing.
I just found my copy today at a thrift store (Gracie's/Tempe Arizona) for $3.00. Both discs are pristine. I'm playing this back on a Stanton 680 HP. It's my all-time favorite stylus. This pressing is excellent. Very quiet with great range on all four sides. This might just be the 2018 re-press another reviewer mentioned. It has the above listed catalog number.
This pressing is very good for what it is. Ceremonials is a relatively brickwalled, sibilant recording, so there's nothing the mastering engineer can do to remove those things. However, it's very full-bodied, clear, detailed and immersive with only a few crackles here and there that don't distract from the music.
This reissue is fantastic, has a great dynamic sound to it, perfect balance of bass and treble. Nice pressing as well, couple of pops and crackles but nothing too bad. It's one of my favourite Florence albums.
