Whether a review is positive, negative, or neutral, we always publish it. However, we screen every review to ensure it is authentic and free of profanity. These checks happen automatically, though a human occasionally steps in. We never pay for reviews.
Mine's also on the hushed and level side. Fortunately, GZ nailed this one, it sounds amazing. Has anyone figured out if it's AAA or pulled from the same digital files as the VMP version?
This record definitely deserves a 5-star rating for its sound, as it's an incredibly well-recorded masterpiece. It's not as dynamic as some previous reissues, like the 2015 version or the VMP release, but that's mainly because they've packed more songs onto each side to accommodate the bonus tracks on Side 4. However, it's worth noting that this is a GZ pressed record, and it shows. There's a noticeable amount of surface noise and what sounded like brief moments of no-fill in two spots on Side A and C. Storing it in paper sleeves probably didn't help, and Side B had a big fingerprint on it. Thankfully, it wiped off. All in all, it's a solid reissue, but it's only worth your money if you really need the bonus tracks or this is your first time buying the record. Otherwise, I'd recommend the still available 2015 reissue if you want a version that sounds a bit better. Update 04/30/22: I swapped my two noisy/defective discs for two new ones. The quality difference is like night and day. There's very little to no surface noise now. The rest of the review still stands, but this shows how varied the pressing quality can be and that you never know what you're going to end up with.
INCREDIBLE, INCREDIBLE, INCREDIBLE!!! This album has left me speechless! I'm in awe of the World Circuit label and Bernie Grundman. This is a masterclass in how to release an album in today's world. Alongside the vinyls and CDs, we receive a stunningly crafted book filled with photos and posters. But folks, that's just the beginning! The vinyl pressing is absolutely phenomenal. The quality is unparalleled, even surpassing what I've experienced from Mofi and Analogue Productions. The grooves are deep and pronounced, just like the old-school records. The sound quality from these vinyl records is extraordinary. It's loud, crisp, and clear with an expansive stereo image. It feels like the band is performing live in my living room. There's not a hint of background noise. Other labels could take a page out of World Circuit's book!
Indeed, it features BG etched (confirmed on my own copy). I've included the matrix runouts as well. Plus, it's a gatefold with a lyrics booklet.
My unit (GZ) is quite hushed and, although not entirely level, it plays back just fine.
