I'll confirm what others have already said: this is quite possibly the worst sounding mofi album of all-time.
One step forward.... two steps back.Compared to the MOV this is cut a good few db louder but its no more dynamic. It does have a bassier feel and there is more bloom in the soundstage but there is a lack of clarity and cleanliness which the MOV offers. Theres always been an unavoidable degree of sibilance in this recording and its as if MoFi wanted to tame it but the price is of a certain murkyness. Overall i feel the MOV has the edge for being a less frustrating listen. This is a case of what could have been and i feel MoFi missed an opportunity to present this better than ever in terms of sound, even though its a pretty ragged recording in reality. Weirdly recorded far inferior to her true classic Jagged Little which would be nice to have as a double 45 (MoFi listen up!!!)EDIT: OH WOW.... MoFi ARE doing a double 45 1 Step.....omg omg omg!
They use poly lined sleeves which causes the vinyl to move about and causing seam splits 👎🏻 so beware
I must be in the minority but I’m enjoying this much more than any prior pressing. So much separation in the mix - it almost feels live in the way everything is unmuddied. For me this is a win.
Sides 1,3 & 4 are great, no issues, but side 2 has unacceptable crackles. I can't understand how, in a modern world, the factories producing such items are allowed to put them on the market. Because we PAY for something brand new which "behaves" like a second-hand record. It makes me mad! Otherwise, the quality of the sound itself is not at stake.
