Product description

Deerhunter's "Weird Era Cont." is a captivating journey through the realms of neo-psychedelia, shoegaze, dream pop, and noise rock, released on December 1, 2008, under the esteemed label 4AD. Clocking in at just over 42 minutes, this 13-track album is a companion piece to their critically acclaimed "Microcastle," serving as a bonus disc of fresh material that stands brilliantly on its own.

Fronted by the enigmatic Bradford Cox, Deerhunter delivers a mesmerizing blend of dreamy melodies, distorted guitars, and introspective lyrics. Tracks like "Backspace Century" and "Vox Celeste" showcase the band's knack for creating immersive soundscapes, while "Ghost Outfit" and "Slow Swords" highlight their ability to craft infectious, anthemic tunes. The album's title track, "Weird Era," encapsulates the band's unique ability to blend the ethereal with the abrasive, creating a sound that is both haunting and hypnotic.

Recorded and mixed at the Rare Book Room in Brooklyn, with mastering done at Truetone in NYC, "Weird Era Cont." is a testament to Deerhunter's evolving sound and artistic vision. The album's double LP reissue in 2014 further cemented its status as a fan favorite and a critical darling. Whether you're a longtime Deerhunter devotee or a newcomer to their music, "Weird Era Cont." offers a rich, rewarding listening experience that showcases the band's innovative spirit and musical prowess.

This is a 2014 Repress released as a LP.

Quite a bit of surface noise here. Colored vinyl gone bad.

  • Great Sound, Wrong Color

Ordered this from Amazon 'cause the white version was shown in the pic, even though most folks said they got this one instead. Crossed my fingers for white, but no such luck. That said, this thing sounds just about perfect. It's got a warm sound, it's quiet, it's heavy, and the music on it really takes flight.
