The sound quality of this pressing is vastly superior to the US version. It's so much clearer and less compressed, allowing the music to shine. His first solo album is truly a hidden treasure.
I'm genuinely puzzled by the complaints. The record is flawlessly flat, utterly silent, and offers a wonderfully spacious soundstage. I can't confirm the source master or if it's been remastered, but my copy sounds fantastic.
Has anyone notice the cover on the first print run is about 1cm taller than the second one?
I'd say this one tops the new Columbia reissue I got.
While it came before Brian Eno's solo work (the album's clearest inspiration), Vintage Violence has a sound akin to Nashville Skyline processed through Eno's Warm Jets, resulting in an amazing album!
