Man, this album is awesome. It's definitely up there with McCoy's finest... and he's got plenty of awesome ones.
The audio quality is absolutely amazing, and the jacket along with the presentation is top-notch as expected - however, my copy arrived with a noticeable warp, fortunately not severe enough to cause any skipping or impact playback but it's pretty close to that point. The booklet is well-done but I really wish they'd choose a different design for the inserts, as that thick yet compact listening guide could potentially put uneven pressure on your record if you keep it in the sleeve.
Definitely worth buying, sounds incredible, just like the music. Great to hear these guys recorded outside the RVG world.
Monk's Ruby, My Dear is fantastic in this version. The pressing is really good.
Ryan Smith has truly outdone himself with this AAA remaster, which is like a 4K upgrade for this album. The sound quality is astonishingly clear for all three instruments. Ron Carter's bass is no longer drowned out by the powerful low end of Tyner's left hand. The highs are so crisp that you can even hear the subtle click of the drumstick hitting the cymbal each time. I compared Side 1 of this remaster to my original '75 vinyl through headphones, and the difference is night and day—the remaster is the clear winner. I've always been a huge fan of TRIDENT, so I might be a bit biased, but this reissue is so pristine it feels like peering into the very essence of the music. The extra booklet is a nice touch, offering some great insights into Tyner's time at Milestone in the '70s.
