The songs on this album were awesome, but the case fell apart after only a week. I'm a big fan of Jackson's music, but the packaging for this album was really poor.
Quite an average pressing. It's got some harshness and inner groove distortion. Soundstage is alright, though.
Perfectly amazing, zero crackling, and the audio is just out of this world! Remember, this edition doesn't have MJ listed as a co-producer, as mentioned in the NOTES part!
This CD features pre-emphasis, so your player must handle the correction internally. If your player accurately processes the pre-emphasis, you'll achieve flawless sound. There's no channel or azimuth deviation, which is typical for CDs. It boasts the bass level used during the original mastering. The modern MFSL version seems to lack bass, and its stereo image isn't from the original mix; it's subjective, really. "Thriller" was initially released with a strong bass presence in all international versions back in 1983. Since then, various alterations of the album have surfaced. This edition, along with many others from that time, packs a punch in the bass department. However, in 1983, some international releases were less bass-heavy and had a brighter tone. It ultimately comes down to personal preference.
The sound quality is okay, but it's not outstanding on either the CD or SACD layer. I still like the original SACD better.
