  • Mislabelled Compilation Chaos

This repress is kinda all over the place, honestly. They threw in a gatefold for a compilation made in '66, with songs recorded way before '57, but all the pics in it seem to be from the '70s and '80s (that stuff bugs me) so it feels a bit lazy. But the real mess-up is that one of the bigger images on it is actually B.B. King, not Muddy. It's a total shambles.

Honestly, nothing quite beats the original. I've got a pretty fresh copy and the only thing I pick up on is a noticeable difference in how some tracks were recorded and mastered back in the day, particularly with the reverb on the first two tracks. Considering this is a compilation put together in Europe (who knows if they even had the master tapes to work from, it being a comp and all), I'm pretty darn impressed. Still not a pricey gamble, and I always have a good time when I give this one a spin.

  • DOL: Fake and Terrible

DOL is a fake label. Fake pressing. This sounds terrible. Like rough sandpaper. STAY CLEAR OF DOL!
