Has anyone else had trouble with the quality of this thing? I grabbed it for a steal but had to send it back since it wouldn't spin on my turntable. It did work on a newer one but the sound was awful. Maybe I just got a bent or messed up oneof.
Caribou, once known as Manitoba, pours out THE MILK OF HUMAN KINDNESS, keeping all the homespun charm. In fact, the bright psychedelia of "Yeti" is even more prominent. "Subotnick" takes a more leisurely pace, but "A Final Warning" buzzes with energy. Snaith appears to have a firmer grip on his material here than on UP IN FLAMES, and the sound is crisper because of it (though there's still a fair bit of mayhem in the "Hands First" interlude). Elsewhere, the hip-hop and old-school keyboards of "Lord Leopard" provide a fascinating contrast, while the funky bass of "Bees" lays down a unique groove. But the folksy vibe comes roaring back on "Hello Hammerheads" and with a bit of rattling percussion on "Brahminy Kite." The looped string sample on "Drumheller" leads back to the delightful beats and charming harps of "Pelican Narrows." An album you can enjoy all day long!
Terrible stuff, not the good kind. :-/ Off to the trash bin soon.
Has anyone out there experienced quality problems with this thing? Snagged it for a steal but ended up sending it back since it wouldn't spin on my turntable. It did work on a more recent model but the sound was pure garbage. Fingers crossed mine was just a oneoff that got all messed up or something.
