Snagged this one for a steal. Alright, it's another Clapton acoustic collection, but it's a solid one. The man could play these tunes in his sleep, and it's clear he and his band are still as sharp as ever. The sound quality is crisp, and the overall presentation is top-notch. It might need a good clean and some protective sleeves, but it's absolutely worth the bargain price. Even if you've heard these songs a million times before, Clapton's unique takes on the classics never fail to intrigue.
To the 72 folks ‘Wanting’ this. “DON’T DO IT”…. Grab it on Blu-Ray instead, the Blu-ray is brilliant. I've gone through 2 different Black Vinyl pressings & 2 Translucent Yellow (this one), and every single one has been terrible. This one is the least bad, but it’s still dreadful…..From the get-go, there are poor lead-in grooves where the needle just gets stuck, then the “WHOOSHING” noise, but that quickly gets overshadowed by the Pops, crackles & defects. But it’s not even mastered well for Vinyl. I have no clue what happened with this production. The lacquers were cut at Abbey Road, by who? Because I’m pretty sure someone like Showell wouldn’t have approved this, it’s flat, no imaging, let alone soundstage. It’s as exciting as a game of pool with Steve Davis, sorry Steve.I can honestly say the most enjoyable parts of this 2Lp album were the Runouts as I knew the suffering & disappointment was over.Really disappointing from a Legend. If someone is looking to get a Clapton & is reading this then check out the copy of ‘Unplugged’ I have, it’s hands down the best and is simply outstanding. This on the other hand is rubbish, which is a shame because the 4 of them at Cowdry House during Lockdown & seen/heard on Blu-ray is fantastic. The comments saying that they have a flawless & dynamic copy just baffle me because mastering & cutting is what it is, and for ‘this’ it’s garbage.I’m putting some Keb’ Mo’ or Nils on to cheer me up…….
Unplugged Two, no audience, honestly and truly amazing. Fantastic music from four incredibly talented guys, with Eric God's 🔥 top-notch acoustic blend.
Terrible terrible terrible pressing. Steer clear. The replacement I got had the same crackle as the first one, even after a VPI cleaning, of course.
The sound quality on my version (yellow vinyl) is flawless, with not a single crackle or pop. People will definitely draw parallels to Unplugged. However, LITD lacks an audience, creating a more focused vibe instead of the energetic buzz of Unplugged. Clapton's approach here is entirely introspective, with the band focused on matching his playing. As usual, Clapton's performance is wonderfully spontaneous and vibrant. It's a great album for late-night listening.
